Committee on Petitions Submits to Head of Government Report on “Petition for Life”

Rabat – The Committee on Petitions submitted Tuesday to Head of Government Saad Dine El Otmani its report on “the petition for life” for the creation of a fund to care for cancer patients, including the opinion and suggestions of this committee regarding this petition.


The Department of the Head of Government said in a statement that El Otmani, who received the members of this commission, expressed his thanks and esteem to the initiators and the signatories of the petition.

“This expresses a high patriotic and humanitarian aspect and is intended to be the eloquent example of participatory democracy,” he said, adding that this is the first experience of a petition accompanied by a report and a opinion on this subject, said the press release.

On this occasion, the Head of Government praised the hard work of the committee which held ten meetings to study the petition and the involvement of citizens in the development of public policies in accordance with article 15 of the Constitution.

The experience of the petition for life has shown a “significant mobilization”, materialized by the collection of more than 40,000 signatures “, he said, stressing that it is an experience to be followed in the implementation of participatory democracy, in addition to representative democracy.

In this regard, he expressed his determination to implement the measures laid in the report of the commission after their examination with the competent authorities.
