Chile’s Lower House Figures Express Support for ‘Perfectly Healthy and Successful’ Operation in El Guerguarat

Rabat – Speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies (Lower House) Diego Paulsen Kehr, and several former speakers and representatives of the Chilean National Congress (Parliament) expressed their support for the operation carried out by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to secure the flow of people and goods in El Guerguarat, deeming it “perfectly healthy and successful”.

 

In a message addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, these figures expressed their solidarity and support for the “perfectly healthy and successful operation carried out without bloodshed or use of military force” by the FAR to open the buffer zone of El Guerguarat and secure the movement of people and goods.

 

According to a press release of the House of Representatives, the members of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies expressed their concern and condemnation of the “recent provocations carried out by the polisario in the buffer zone of El Guerguarat.”

 

They also voiced their regrets over “these unilateral acts aimed at destabilizing the balance of peace in the region, undermining the legal and historical situation in this Moroccan region, and seriously threatening the ceasefire.”

 

The Speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies and the rest of its members also expressed their “fraternal and direct solidarity,” highlighting the harmonious rapprochement and dialogue experienced in recent years by the two houses.

 

Besides Diego Paulsen Kehr, the message was signed by Francisco Undurraga Gazitúa, 1st Vice-Speaker, and by former speakers Maya Fernandez Allende, Iván Flores García, Fidel Espinoza Sandoval and Pepe Auth Stewart. Chilean deputies Jaime Naranjo Ortiz and Issa Kort Garriga also signed the document.
