Casablanca: Police Seize 3.5 Tons of Chira, Arrest Two Individuals

Rabat – The Casablanca judicial police seized, in the early hours of Sunday, 3.5 tons of chira aboard a goods transport truck and arrested two persons, including a woman, allegedly involved in the case.

 The truck, which was coming from one of the cities in the north of the Kingdom, was intercepted at the “Tit Mellil” motorway toll station near the city of Casablanca, according to a statement by the national police (DGSN), noting that search operations led to the seizure of 106 drug packages, with a total weight of 3.5 tons, concealed in a cargo of fodder products.

 The operation also led to the arrest of the driver and a woman who was also on board the truck, both of whom have criminal records for drug trafficking, according to the same source.

 The two suspects have been placed in police custody to complete the inquiry conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, while research and investigations are under way for the arrest of the accomplices in these criminal acts, the statement concluded.
