Burkinabe and Togolese Cultural Unity Celebrated at Togo International Crafts Market


Lome: The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Trade, Handicrafts and Local Consumption of Togo, Kossivi Hounak©, has expressed his delight at having Burkina Faso as the guest of honor at the 4th edition of the Togo International Crafts Market (MIATO), underscoring the shared values, practices, and traditions between the Burkinabe and Togolese people.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Hounak© highlighted the cultural and traditional bonds that unite the two nations, emphasizing the significance of Burkina Faso’s participation in the craft market. He remarked on the continuity and similarity that reflect the closeness between the peoples, citing cultural expressions such as dance as evidence of their unity. “We are truly proud to see our brothers and sisters in Burkina Faso dancing our dance steps. It is proof that we are one people, united for centuries by ancestral, cultural, and traditional ties,” he noted.



On the same occasion, the Burkinabe Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Gilbert Ou©draogo, conveyed his appreciation to the organizers for dedicating a day to Burkina Faso during MIATO. Mr. Ou©draogo expressed his enthusiasm for showcasing the diversity of Burkinabe cultural heritage through various activities. “During this day, thanks to artisans and cultural actors from Burkina Faso, we will discover the diversity of our cultural heritage through exhibitions, tasting local dishes and vibrating to the rhythm of traditional songs and dances of our land,” he said.



The celebration of Burkina Faso Day included performances by traditional artists, tastings of “made in Burkina” dishes, exchanges of gifts, and visits to stands, fostering deeper cultural connections between the participants.
