Answering questions from journalists following the weekly meeting of the Government Council on the 30 billion dirhams budget deficit, Baitas explained that “the budget deficit was expected to reach worrying levels during the current year, but the government, while dealing with external fluctuations and preserving the budget balance, has managed to maintain it at reasonable levels.”
He added that the failure to maintain this budget balance affects the assessments of rating institutions, as well as the investments planned for the coming year and the social measures taken by the government.
