Agadir: Man Nabbed for Attempting To Smuggle 880 kg of Chira (Police)

Rabat – The judicial police of the city of Agadir arrested, on Tuesday evening on the basis of accurate information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, a man aged 46 for his alleged involvement in an attempt to smuggle 880 kilograms of chira.


This operation was coordinated with the territorially competent services of the Royal Gendarmerie, said the National Police (DGSN) in a statement, specifying that the suspect was arrested in a car at the Amskroud region located 48 kilometers north of Agadir. The search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 32 bundles of chira weighting 880 kg, a batch of cell phones, a sickle and fake license plates, the statement said.

The suspect was remanded in police custody for the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to identify all the people involved in this case, said the DGSN.
