The curtains fell on the 5th edition of the cultural and artistic animation days of Ouéssa (JACAO), on Saturday May 11, 2024 in Dano with the coronation of the Annunciation Catholic high school in Dissihn.
Launched in Dissihn in February 2024, the final of the 5th edition of the cultural and artistic animation days of Ouéssa (JACAO) took place in Dano on Saturday May 11.
This edition of JACAO was chaired by the High Commissioner of Ioba province, Bernadette Adenyo née Sermé.
The Director General of Radio and Television of Burkina (RTB), Galip Somé, was the guest of honor. This edition saw the participation of
post-primary and secondary establishments from the eight municipalities of Ioba.
A total of 33 establishments took part in the JACAO 2024.
The competitions took place on the Dano, Dissihn and Ouéssa site in order to reduce student travel. The theme chosen for this year is: ‘Cultural diversity in schools, a vector of social cohesion, peace and citizenship in a context of insecurity’.
Five disciplin
es were in competition, namely clothing art in the form of a fashion show, Dagara linguistic purity, ballet with compulsory music, ballet with music of your choice and traditional Dagara dance.
The private Catholic high school Notre Dame de l’Annonciation in Dissihn presented itself in four disciplines out of the five in competition. He emerged victorious in the four disciplines which are dress art, linguistic purity, ballet with imposed music and traditional dagara dance. Bater Langou private high school in Dano wins first place in ballet music elective.
The first three in each discipline were awarded prizes. Prices range from 125,000 FCFA to 75,000 FCFA for ballet and traditional dance and from 100,000 FCFA to 50,000 FCFA for the fashion show and linguistic purity.
The prefect, president of the special municipal delegation of Dano, Denis Zanré, indicated that the JACAOs play a leading role in awakening students and further rooting them in culture.
He asked for support from everyone for these events whic
h promote the development of young people. For the president of the organizing committee, Lionel Sayoré, the students are the heroes of tomorrow.
This is why he encourages them to never abandon their culture. ‘Cultural heritage is the only sure value that will accompany us throughout our lives,’ he added.
The promoter, Aly Maïga, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth running of the competitions. ‘I am a cultural actor and I love culture. I think our objective has been achieved with the participation of students in JACAO,’ declared Mr. Maïga.
He thanked the provincial and municipal authorities for their involvement and invaluable support.
As for the High Commissioner, Bernadette Adenyo / Sermé, the children have talent and they have shown that they are already taking over.
They accompany their elders in all cultural activities, everything that is the essence of the communities of Burkina, she continued.
She thanked and congratulated the promoter for his support which allows the JACAO to be held regu
larly. She appealed to all those who can support this youth of the Ioba province to do so so that future editions can experience more brilliance.
The Dreyer Foundation, the Director General of RTB and the High Commissioner each received a certificate of recognition from the promoter for their support in promoting cultural activities.
